SYMBYX light therapy is a natural and painless therapeutic approach to synergise the body’s innate healing mechanisms, alleviating pain and stimulating tissue repair. By leveraging the body’s own regenerative powers, it accelerates healing, reduces swelling and facilitates prompt recovery, optimising the path to restored wellbeing.

Discover the natural, painless efficacy of the best at-home red light therapy to treat Peripheral Neuropathy. By utilising specific doses and wavelengths of either red or infrared laser light, it modulates pain signals, enhances healing and repair through improved blood flow and nitric oxide release, stimulates nerve growth, and provides neuroprotective benefits. Peripheral neuropathy commonly affects hands, feet, sciatic nerve, neck, and shoulder, including conditions like sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and neck radiculopathy.
Arthritis, characterised by joint inflammation, occurs more frequently with age, but can also significantly impact younger individuals. The condition encompasses various types, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis and septic arthritis.
So how can light therapy help? Light therapy has been extensively studied and proven beneficial for arthritis conditions. By reducing pain and inflammation, it promotes healing and tissue repair. When specific wavelengths of red or infrared light are applied to the body, the cell's mitochondria are stimulated to generate more energy (ATP), facilitating healing, growth and repair. Additionally, light therapy triggers the release of nitric oxide, improving blood flow, as well as cAMP, a potent anti-inflammatory agent, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), which mitigates oxidative stress. These mechanisms enable the natural healing and repair of joints when light therapy is applied.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterised by widespread body pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive and mood issues. It is caused by abnormal pain processing in the brain and spinal cord, where typically non-painful sensations are interpreted as painful. This condition, also known as "centralised" pain, affects different areas of the body and can vary from day to day. For example, individuals with Fibromyalgia may experience leg, foot, knee, and hip pain, often described as throbbing, shooting, achy, or burning sensations. They may also feel tightness, tenderness, numbness, tingling, or weakness in muscles, along with reduced mobility or a dull aching sensation. While Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition, flare-ups can occur, resulting in temporary increases in symptoms. During acute flare-ups, infrared laser therapy is a popular treatment option due to its painless nature. Our SYMBYX devices are the only approved lasers for reducing the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
Swelling occurs when excessive fluid accumulates in the body due to inflammation or fluid retention. Light therapy offers a natural, painless approach that works with the body's healing processes to decrease pain, promote tissue repair and expedite healing, providing faster relief from swelling.
It does this via four processes:
- Energises the cell’s mitochondria to produce more ATP. This is used by the cell for important processes such as healing, growth, repair and proliferation.
- Increases nitric oxide to improve blood flow, circulation and drainage.
- Releases reactive oxygen species (ROS) to reduce oxidative stress and encourage repair processes.
- Releases cAMP, a natural anti-inflammatory that the body uses to help regulate its own inflammation processes.
On top of this, our therapies have been shown to actually improve muscle and tendon strength, particularly when used in combination with exercise, also protecting against future injury.
SYMBYX is at the forefront of groundbreaking research exploring the potential of light therapy in reducing symptoms of IBD and IBS. While our previous studies have centred around the effectiveness of gut-brain connection light therapy for Parkinson's, we anticipate similar positive outcomes for IBS/IBD using a comparable treatment approach.

FAQs
Depending on what you are treating, some people begin to notice improvements in as little as 1-2 weeks. For pain-related conditions, treatment typically takes 4-8 weeks.
SYMBYX light therapy is backed by extensive and scientifically rigorous clinical research and is a CE and ARTG listed medical device for the reduction of Parkinson's, Fibromyalgia, pain and inflammation. SYMBYX also offers ongoing clinical support. No matter where you are on your SYMBYX journey, our Clinical Support team makes sure you are supported along the way and ensures you are optimising your light therapy results. Contact the Clinical Support team today (link here).
No, you should not feel any pain when applying SYMYBX light therapy. If you do experience pain, it may be due to the pressure you are using on the contact point. If this is the case, use the non-contact application approach described in the treatment protocol. If you do think you are experiencing pain during or after your treatment, please contact our Clinical Support team for further instruction.
How often you need to use your laser will largely depend on the specific body part or ailment being treated. For example, a sore finger or toe, being a smaller area of the body, may require less days of treatment than, for example, lower back pain. Back pain may require at least 1-2 weeks of treatments. We recommend using your PhysioCare laser device daily for the first 3-5 days, and then 2-3 times a week (or every second) day for several weeks. Specific guidelines are outlined for each body ailment in the attached Instructions Manual on pages 15-17.
How Light Therapy Can Help
Through the application of light therapy, cellular mitochondria are stimulated, resulting in increased production of cellular energy (ATP). This surplus energy fuels growth, repair, and healthy cellular activities, addressing conditions associated with mitochondrial insufficiency such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and chronic pain.
Increases nitric oxide levels, inducing vasodilation and promoting localised blood flow, optimising nutrient and oxygen delivery for enhanced healing and wellbeing.
Stimulates the release of essential cellular signals (cAMP), activating anti-inflammatory cells to support and regulate healing.
Light therapy has a twofold effect on pain reduction, targeting both the peripheral and central nervous systems. By reducing pro-inflammatory mediators and modulating pain-afferent fibres, it creates a potent analgesic effect while enhancing the nervous system’s tolerance to pain stimulation.
Light therapy triggers the release of ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species), reducing oxidative stress and enhancing cellular repair capabilities through its potent antioxidant effect.
